The Condemned

As I woke up this morning, I was greeted by my friend Galadrial who was already preparing a big fight against some notorious monsters down in Bostaunieux Oubliette. I asked her if I could be of any help and were told I’m welcome to come.

As I reintegrated at the Crag of Holla after having teleported, I was struck by the strong sunlight in La Theine Plateau. It made me a little disoriented for a few seconds, but it was nothing that a little Blindna couldn’t fix. I walked over to the nice Chocobo Renter lady and asked her how much a chocobo would cost me. She showed me the different chocobos she had available, pointing me to one of her favorite chocobos, La Meina. I paid her 350 gil and got saddled up.

La Meina seemed like a gentle, yet very bright little chocobo. I was told by the girl renting her out that she could have a bit of a temper, but I didn’t really have much trouble with her at all. We rode through the Plateau and made our way to the entrance to San d’Oria. The guards at the gate saluted me as I approached the gate, welcoming me to the city. I greeted them back and asked them to take care of the chocobo while I was inside. They gave me a claim slip and told me they’d put her in the San d’Orian chocobo stables while I was staying in town. Once inside the city though, I went by the marketplace, hoping to find something nice for breakfast. A roll and some sardines sounded like a nice snack for my trip through the oubliette. I also picked up some pineapples to share with Galadrial’s party.

Although Galadrial and I are in two seperate linkshells, I still want to help her if I’m able to. She’s helped me so much I’m not even sure where to begin to repay her. So, I guess I’ll help her the only way I can…

I walked into the Chateau d’Oraguille, and down through the basement into the oubliette. The dungeon isn’t as secret as it sounds, but it is quite scary. Traps can be found everywhere, and the monsters are deadly since they have a tendency to group up against you. My vision was still a little blurry after the blinding sun rays back in La Theine Plateau, so I was a little worried about falling into one of the traps. I had jotted down a map of how to get to the Galadrial’s party since they had already proceeded far inside.

The monsters paid little attention to me, thankfully, so I guess they weren’t hungry today. I’ve had some horrible encounters in here, so I was hoping to avoid confrontation. It took me a solid 10 minutes to get to Galadrial, who were currently getting TP and clearing out the monsters in the room where we were about to fight the brothers Drexerion and Phanduran.

I cast Protectra and Shellra on them, and made the final preparations before starting the fight. The brothers were rather mean looking, but we had two tanks, so the group was confident that it’d be no problem at all. Galadrial provoked Phanduran whereas Kiryn kited Drexerion. That way we could kill one of the monsters while the other one was running around, unable to attack. Phanduran wasn’t all that hard, although some of his powerful spells was quite annoying. Drexerion got really upset when we saw that his brother had fallen in battle, and eagle eye shot our monk. This made me really sad since I could’ve saved him. I blamed myself for not having been able to save him in time, but at least I was able to give him a raise afterwards.

Galadrial got herself a really nice new sword, an Ascalon to play with. After having fought the two brothers I found the pineapples I had bought earlier and cut it into pieces so everyone could share. We found ourselves a nice spot to sit and talk, while enjoying our pineapples.
