Kirin put to rest
Some of the Offline members have taken a vacation for a few days, so the remaining people was a little worried that we wouldn’t have enough people for our Kirin run. But, we were lucky and were able to get the necessary people to ahead with the run.
The Garden of Ru’Aun was very quiet for a change, and I was surprised that no one else was up here on this day. The garden is usually full of people either farming or challenging the gods who rest on their respective islands. I hadn’t had the chance to eat breakfast yet, so I took the time to stop by one of the rivers in the garden. I dipped my feet into the cold water that was flowing gently off the island. For a few minutes I spent wondering where all that water ends up anyway, and where it all comes from. There is still so much I don’t know about Vana’diel.
«I guess I’m just not smart enough,» I told myself and grinned. I looked through my bag. I found Moat Carp I had bought earlier this morning. It was still wrapped nicely inside a bundle of palm leaves. I looked thoroughly through the bottom of my bag and found a fire crystal. I put the crystal down on the ground and brushed it’s surface using my mind while concentrating. The crystal burst into brilliant flames in my mind, and two seconds later the crystal was absorbed in flames. After having unwrapped and made a nice little fishkabob of the carp, I put it over the fire. The fire doesn’t last long with only one crystal, but it was more than enough to fry my fish.
The moat carp was really tasty, although it could’ve used some salt. But it made a fine breakfast.
I cleaned up after myself and put the bag back on my shoulder before I moved inside the Ru’Avitau Shrine. I walked down the corridors, trying not to bother the weapons that guard the place. They can be quite grumpy and unforgiving, so most people try not to make a ruckus around them. I was lucky and got teleported to the right room on the first try. None of the other Offline members had arrived yet, so I had plenty of time. I found my favorite picture of Zelthas inside my bag, looked at it for a few moments before I prayed for a safe adventure today. I put my index finger on my lip and touched the picture gently, like a kiss.
It was still early, so I curled up on the floor and took a nap while holding the picture of Zelthas tightly.
«Wake up, silly little kitten.»
I woke up rather suddenly by a girl sitting on her knees poking me. She looked down on me and grinned. «Someone had a pleasant dream,» she said to me. I blushed, and my chins must’ve been as red as a tomato. I turned around, trying to hide my face while putting the picture of Zelthas back into my bag.
«There’s nothing to be embarrassed over Kimiko,» the girl said. Nicia was right, although I was feeling really bad about having let others see me sleep in the middle of a dudgeon.
Most of the linkshells had gathered now, and the leaders had just started forming the parties and the alliance. I was put in the kiting party, one of the most important duties a White Mage can have for Kirin. I was a little happy about being picked, since I never get to be in main tank party in Dynamis.
People were eager to get started, and I wasn’t really nervous. I’ve been in the kiting party a few times so I knew what to do.
When the leaders finally said we were about to start, I psyched up and took a few steps away from the tanks. I had already cast Protect and Shell on everyone, so I was as ready as I could get. Kirin appeared and was not happy at all. The kiting party started running around and I followed them. Being in the kiting party is a good workout. Although Kirin can be a nightmare at times, we had no problem keeping him busy. We had minimal casualties, and the tanks did really well. I got slapped and knocked out once, so I was very happy with the run.
But the drops weren’t good at all I’m afraid, so I hope we get to go get our revenge soon.
