Ghosts

I’ve spent much time leveling Beastmaster lately, and it’s really fun being able to adventure deep inside various dungeons, including both the Garlaige Citadel and the Boyahda Tree. I didn’t really see too many people when I was working hard to get my experience, but at least I had a linkshell and someone to speak with.

Beastmasters are known to be a little lonely, but we have both friends to talk with and pets to care for, so I don’t really miss the dull parties and the horridly long waits to get a party invite.

Recently I’ve been at a loss though, trying to figure out where to party without getting myself killed and while being able to get some decent experience. I’ve tried both the Toraimarai Canal and Uleguerand Range, but I didn’t really enjoy either of them, so I ended up going back to the Citadel. I was surprised that I still got really good experience even at level 59, so I was able to get level 60 in a few hours of work. The Citadel has a lot of competition though, so I tried to go there when I didn’t have to fight to get my pets.

I prefer not to get caught in an argument as a Beastmaster since I rely so heavily on my camps, but I’m usually very willing to share my space with parties who arrive. There are usually some other camp that works almost as great for me, but in the Citadel I didn’t really have much of a choice. Sure, I could have gone further inside the dungeon, behind one of the banishing gates for instance, but it’s hard getting people to help you get behind there. Besides, it’s hard to flee if things go sour…

After having reached level 60, I decided to pick up an assignment from the Dietmund in Jeuno, who sent me to the Eldieme Necropolis to observe the fiends inside there. I was escorted by Galadrial, Sarick and Rafe — the latter two are from my linkshell, Offline — so I felt safe knowing that they were all very capable.

Galadrial was a little worried since there were to linkshell members from Offline there, and she wanted to do her best to prove that she’s a good person. I already know she is, so I calmed her down, telling her not to worry.

I examined some of the sarcophagus in the east wing of the area, and was caught by surprise when three beasts stared down at me. I panicked and ran behind my friends. The tigers wasn’t going to give up on their prey though, and they kept attacking me. Luckily my friends came to the rescue and slew them off before they could get a good bite at me.

After they were defeated, the Beastmaster Balpah appeared and he seemed quite annoyed. But only a few moments later his long lost friend, an opo~opo, came back. The reunited duo was overwhelmed with cheer, and I received a really prrrettyful reward. Quite unexpected, but I was very pleased.

With the new trousers in hand — or fuzzy pants as my linkshell call them — I could continue leveling. Sarick had pointed out a really great camp for me, but I ended up going to the Boyahda tree since it was safer for my level. I walked inside and took a good look at the monsters. They were in the purrrfect level range, although they looked quite hungry…
