Brothers

Today has been a really weird day so far. I got to party with a really nice group of Japanese, and had a great time. While waiting for a scheduled linkshell event I was teleporting people around from Lower Jeuno, trying to make a few gil. I’ve got a few items I really want, so I’m trying to raise some gil, especially since I’m going to have to gear up my Beastmaster soon. I’ve finally decided that Beastmaster will be my next level 75 job, so I took that into consideration when I made the list.

I asked Galadrial for some advice, and she noticed that I had put a Haubergeon on there. She grinned to me and ran off. I knew what she was about to do and asked her to stop, and that I didn’t want her to worry about me. Yet, not long after she stood in front of me, handing me a Haubergeon, in mint condition. I refused to accept it and told her there was no way I could ever repay her for that, and that I felt bad about the other gifts she have given me recently. She insisted, and I told her I’d take it only if it was as a loan. I’d rather borrow such an item. Moments after having accepted it, she told me it was a gift and refused to take it back — not even if she’d need it in the future. I was confused, sad and very happy at the same time.

It’s a nice offer after all, but I felt really bad about accepting such a gift. But she kept on insisting. So, I told her I’d help her out any way I could. Of course, my linkshell wouldn’t have that as they were preparing to do an ENM in Bearclaw Pinnacle. I asked the linkshell if I could bring her, but we didn’t have time to get her the item required to enter the battlefield, and she was also preparing on a NM fight of her own.

I went back to Jeuno and put on my Paladin gear and made my way to the Pinnacle. We had to wait a little bit for the others to come, but that was okay. We decided on how drops would be handled. Knowing my luck, I was sure the Hedgehog Bomb wouldn’t drop, so I said the people who need the drops gets to lot — even though I really needed the gil.

We started fighting and I was a really surprised that the monsters didn’t hit harder. I got to borrow an Earth Staff. Upon taking on the monsters, I flashed, provoked and used sentinel to get initial hate. I couldn’t have the damage dealers take hate and people die, so I asked one of the linkshell’s Paladin for advice. I kept hate quite well and was surprised how well we did.

The brothers died, and what do you know… a Hedgehog Bomb dropped. Me and two others lotted, and I lost by 100 points to a Blue Mage. I wanted to sigh.. or cry, but I had already agreed on how lots should be handled so I was in no position to complain. Oh well. Better luck next time I guess.
